Monumental Inscriptions are being been transcribed by the Friends of Nunhead Cemetery.
Monumental Inscription recording is carried out in the cemetery twice monthly, generally on a middle Wednesday and the last Sunday of each month. All volunteers are most welcome and should meet at the FONC Cabin by the main entrance in Linden Grove, usually at 10.15 a.m.

We clear the monuments of foliage, moss and general dirt so that they can be read then record what we can of the inscription, taking a photo of the monument. These are then transcribed into a word document by each volunteer for easier access. At some stage we will need to put all these inscriptions onto the website, and we are also using a template designed for this purpose. Assistance can be given for those who don’t get on with IT! Volunteers can choose how much time they want to devote to this work, so we welcome those only able to do a couple of hours rather than the whole day.
Please make a donation to help support their work.
Memorial Inscriptions.
You can also send the details, Name, Square & Grave number to our Monumental Inscriptions Coordinator, Garry Wiles <email hidden; JavaScript is required> to see if we have already transcribed a memorial stone if one exists. We may also be able to carry out a search for the grave on your behalf and provide photographs and a transcription of the inscription as it appears on the monument.
