Outdoor corporate volunteering at Nunhead cemetery offers you the opportunity to meet up with your colleagues in an informal setting, to team build and improve your team’s wellbeing.
Situated in the Borough of Southwark (SE15), with easy access from Victoria and Blackfriars rail stations and nearby bus routes, volunteer days with the Friends of Nunhead Cemetery (FONC) get you out of the office and into the outdoors for enjoyable and meaningful activities. We are all volunteers ourselves so we fully understand the benefits, needs and limitations of working on-site.
We offer flexible corporate volunteering days to suit organisations of all sizes and help to deliver your corporate social responsibility (CSR) needs. We’ll work with you to develop a day that perfectly meets your team’s requirements.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will have a team of friendly FONC volunteer supervisors with you all day to help deliver varied conservation and heritage tasks. Your team will carry out seasonal tasks from clearing brambles and other weeds, planting wildflowers and bulbs, felling and planting small trees, litter picking, repairing paths and carrying out minor monument repairs. Physical tasks in a green and wild environment boosts morale and gives a real sense of achievement.
As well as getting an excellent workout, corporate volunteers contribute to the important nature conservation work we do in the cemetery which directly benefits wildlife and the local community. For the less physically active volunteer we can also offer the chance to help with our on-going monument inscription recording tasks.
We can also enhance the volunteer’s experience by giving a brief presentation about historic Nunhead cemetery and to visit the crypt under the Anglican chapel (normally closed to the public).
